Flowers and Garden Creatures FOUR SESSIONS or Select TWO SESSIONS:Wednesday MORNING Workshop
Roslyn will review the basic brushstrokes and then proceed to painting various flowers, vegetables grown in the garden, dragonflies and other insects, frogs and fish. The wishes of the participants will guide what is taught. Participants will come away with more confident brushstrokes - a skill that can be transferred to any other medium - as well as a sense of the value of empty space, or yohaku, in a painting. They will also find a way to make painting a moving meditation that will further enrich their artistic experience.
Roslyn has been painting in sumi-e since 1976, taught in Ottawa by a Japanese sensei, the late Tomoko Kodama. She has shown her work in Europe and the Orient. Her award-winning work is in collections world-wide. She loves to teach and students find her classes informative, challenging and a lot of fun!
