Plein Air Coordinator
The Plein Air Coordinator is responsible for the organization and management of our members participating in BAC's outdoor painting excursions. This role involves:
- the logistics for sourcing suitable locations to paint en plein air with easy access and suitable parking, and provides directions as needed,
- obtain permission when required from owner or establishment,
- managing on-site needs and ensuring all remain within the boundaries set,
- ensuring a waiver is maintained and signed by all participants,
- and organizing ride sharing when needed, which is also an aid to reduce parking fees.
An opportunity to encourage artists to paint en plein air by sourcing areas that are enticing and need to be captured on canvas or paper.
Communication and event planning are key to this role, with the understanding that last minute changes may be required due to weather conditions.
Summary of Key Responsibilities & Skills:
A coordinator for plein air artists would typically need the following:
- Organizational Skills: To handle artist schedules, logistics, and any special requirements.
- Communication Skills: To effectively communicate with artists, partners, and the public.
- Problem-Solving: The ability to handle unexpected issues that arise in a fast-paced outdoor environment.
- Attention to Detail: To ensure all aspects of the excursions are well-managed for the artists.
- Flexibility: To adapt to changing conditions and artist needs.
This is a volunteer role, with flexible days based on your schedule and the weather, and a chance to encourage artists to paint en plein air.
