The purpose of this workshop is to loosen up the creative inner spirit through the process of play and experimentation.

Students will explore colour mixing, mark-making, and the elements of design, eg. shape, line, colour, texture, and value. Donna will explain the creative process she uses to begin an abstract non-objective painting.

Students will have the opportunity to create more layers using basic design principles.

Finishing up the piece. Resolution of problem areas and Donna will cover some self critiquing ideas to help with knowing when a piece of work is complete.

About the Artist

Donna Montgomery is a versatile multi-media artist with a background in education. Originally from Northern Ontario Donna Montgomery now resides in Horseshoe Valley, Ontario. Art has always been a passion. As an active member of the Algoma Art Society Donna served as its president for two years. As an educator Donna earned her BA , B. Ed and a Visual Arts Specialist.

Donna began painting in oils then became intrigued with the unpredictability and challenge of watercolour. Recently mixed media abstract art is now part of her creative direction. Her paintings have won awards in local art shows and juried exhibitions. She is currently a member of the Barrie Art Club.
