The beauty of the winter landscape is found in so many ways. For Sam Paonessa, he loves the multiple layers of trees blanketed by snow. There is a distinct splendour whether the snow covered branches are deciduous trees or coniferous. Painting the layering effect is a fun challenge working with values. This exercise will keep your eye looking for the right values in order to place them correctly and create a sense of layered depth. You won't need much colour here, just a good eye for values. Find the strongest light, dark and then mid tones.
