Marianne will demonstrate different ways to simplify and extract the essential information from a reference photo to create an abstracted version of the scene. While working with the elements of design, the emphasis will be on composition and value relationships to convey the essence, rather than the details. This is also a wonderful opportunity to be creative with colour to communicate your impressions. Modeling paste will be used to incorporate texture into one of our paintings. Reference pictures will be provided and feel free to bring your own.

About the Artist:

Marianne was born in England but spent much of her childhood in Malaysia. The stunning scenery and abundance of exotic animals and plants heightened her love of nature and keen interest in drawing and painting. As a teenager, her artwork was selling in local galleries and department stores. Marianne settled in Canada in 1980 and lives in Schomberg, Ontario.
