Learn how to create quick thumbnails, allowing yourself to see whether ideas translate into solid visual ideas for paintings. In employing the principles of good composition, we avoid problems in later stages of the painting process.  Learning monochromatic studies, and how to build a palette around one colour, value studies (limited palette/expanded palette), how to create depth through temperature and through scaling.
