The Dancing Brush with Roslyn Levin: Morning Workshop
Sumi-e (Japanese Brush Painting)
Sumi-e is a way of moving and breathing with each brush stroke being sensitive to the brush itself. With a minimum of brush strokes and just blacks/grays the participant will see how much can be left to the imagination while creating a piece that is both abstracted and real. Less is definitely more in this medium and the simpler it looks the more challenging it is to paint!
The students will learn a different way to manipulate the very sensitive oriental brush which can be applied to any medium.
