·Tom has developed an understanding of some of the fundamental elements of painting through intensive study of the master painters from the past. He will teach how to apply these fundamentals to any kind of image (Landscape, Portrait and  Still Life) as well what was the basis of early modernist abstraction. Because these fundamentals are applicable to so many different types of painting, his teaching remains open to a variety of styles, classical, realist, modernist and abstraction.

Participants are welcome to bring in paintings they are having trouble with to be critiqued and worked on with a view to understanding and using these painting fundamentals or to start new work developed from drawings, photos and the imagination. These fundamentals are useful tools for the development of painting and include composition structures, development of form, the use of colour with either the Master palette or Impressionist palette, focal points developing centres of interest and purpose.
