Types & TERMS: BAC Workshop Proposal / Instructor Application

Receipt of the application does not constitute an agreement between the Barrie Art Club and the artist.  Selections will be made to offer workshops in a variety of media, subject matter, and various levels of challenge.  Note: Workshop applications are received for both In-house and Online classes based on the following Terms and Types of workshops. Selected applicants will be contacted by email to arrange bookings.

Section 1: 3-Hour Single Session Workshops
Section 2: Successive 3 Hour Workshops (2 - 4 Class Series)
Section 3: Full Day Workshop (1-Day Class)

Section 4:  Other Terms and/or Arrangements
Section 5: Online Workshop using Zoom App

Section 1:  3-HOUR SINGLE SESSION Workshops

This application process is for art instructors interested in teaching a Single Session workshop (3 hours only) IN-HOUSE at the Barrie Art Club (BAC) OR ONLINE using the Zoom app for the upcoming workshop season: January – December. 

Days: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays or Saturdays
In-house Times:
Mornings (9:30am - 12:30pm) or (10am - 1pm), afternoons (1pm - 4pm) OR evenings (6pm - 9pm)
Online Times:
Mornings (10am - 1pm), afternoons (1pm - 4pm) OR evenings (6pm - 9 pm)
Time chosen depends on instructor availability and BAC scheduling.
Max Class Size: 16
consisting of up to 15 paying students and 1 club member, who, acting as 'host', will pay no registration fee but only any applicable materials fee. The In-house 'host' is responsible for the following: opening club doors one hour prior to start of class, setting up tables and workshop space, assisting instructor with their setup and distribution of supplies, taking attendance, attending to the needs of registrants and instructor, making coffee, cleanup and take-down of tables, etc. The Online 'host' is responsible for setting up the zoom link and sharing with the instructor and participants, and also sending out any reference materials prior to the start of the class. Assist the instructor and participants as needed online, and take attendance.

Remuneration: $250 (includes all applicable taxes). In-house: Where materials are provided, an appropriate materials fee per student may be added (fee should cover cost of supplies only). (A space for this is included in the application form.)


Registration for workshops is not limited to Barrie Art Club members. Both members and non-members have equal opportunity to register. The Barrie Art Club will advertise to our 200+ members. The instructor is encouraged to augment club advertising on their own also.

The club reserves the right to cancel the workshop with advance notice should there be insufficient registration.  


Section 2:  successive 3 hour Workshops (2 - 4 class series)

This application process is for art instructors interested in teaching a successive 3 hour workshop series up to four classes in total IN-HOUSE at the Barrie Art Club (BAC)  OR ONLINE using the Zoom app for the upcoming workshop season: January – December in the current year.  

Session: In a given calendar month - up to four (4) classes (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays or Saturdays).
In-house Times: Mornings (9:30 am - 12:30pm) OR (10am - 1pm), afternoons (1pm - 4pm) or evenings (6pm - 9pm)
Online Times:
Mornings (10am - 1pm), afternoons (1pm - 4pm) or evenings (6pm - 9 pm)

Section 3:  FULL DAY workshop (1-day class)

This application is for art instructors interested in teaching an IN-HOUSE FULL DAY workshop on a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Saturday at the Barrie Art Club (BAC) for the upcoming workshop season, January – December.  

Day:  Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Saturday (Full Day)
Time: 10am-4pm
Max Class size: 16 consisting of up to 15 paying students and 1 club member, who, acting as 'host', will pay no registration fee but only any applicable materials fee. The In-house 'host' is responsible for the following: opening club doors one hour prior to start of class, setting up tables and workshop space, assisting instructor with their setup and distribution of supplies, taking attendance, attending to the needs of registrants and instructor, making coffee, cleanup and take-down of tables, etc.
Remuneration: $450 (includes all applicable taxes). Where materials are provided, an appropriate materials fee per student may be added (fee should cover cost of supplies only).  (A space for this is included in the application form.)

Section 4:  Other TERMS and/or Arrangements

From time to time, special arrangements are made in addition to, or in exception to, Sections 1, 2 or 3.  For example, multiple day weekend workshops have a higher base remuneration, or the workshop location for a plein air workshop is 'other' than the Barrie Art Club studio/gallery space.
Please note each exception / addition in the Other Terms field of the application form.  These exceptions may require BAC board review. It is recommended that such exceptions are first fielded by emailing bacworkshops3@gmail.com.

SECTION 5: ONLINE USING ZOOM APP

During Covid, we took workshops Online using the Zoom AppThis is now an option for both instructors and students alike.  If you prefer to teach online using the Zoom App, sections one and two above and remunerations noted also apply to Online workshops.
