Solid Painting in Oils TWO SESSIONS: Monday AFTERNOON Workshop
The first phase of the workshop will be focusing on composing the painting and establishing a monochromatic value underpainting using a variety of values of ultramarine blue. This step allows the student to apply the correct colour at the right spot on the painting during the second phase of the workshop.
About the Artist:
Born in Barrie in 1958, Richard has been painting and drawing since he was ten years old, developing his abilities on a self-taught basis until enrolling in the Fine Arts Department at the Ontario College of Arts four year program. Since graduating in 1990, Richard has since opened and operated a small business in Orillia, Ontario. Richard is the recipient of numerous scholarships and awards throughout his career including: - 1988 John Alfsen Award for Proficiency in Fine Art - 1989 Dorothy Steven's Award for Proficiency in Painting and Drawing - 1991 Best in Show, Watercolour and Pastel, Kempenfest, Barrie - 1992 Best Traditional Painting, Midland Arts Festival Richard's work was chosen to be in a movie 'Where the Heart is', filmed in Toronto, and commanded the highest price in a charity silent auction held at the Ontario College of Art in 1989.
