Through a number of exercises participants will be introduced to a variety of techniques to paint rocks and trees. These exercises will include "wet on wet", dry brush, scraping and sponge techniques. The purpose of the workshop is to provide the building blocks for future paintings that might include rocks and trees.

There will be practice in mixing basic colours to create shades appropriate for rocks and foliage.

About the Artist

Sandy Reid began painting with watercolours at The Sandycove Art Club in 2007. She is grateful to the generous artists in that group who shared their insights, skill and encouragement as she developed.

Formal courses at the Haliburton School of Art and Design helped her to expand her approach to painting.

A former High School teacher and retired pastor, she enjoys teaching. For the past two years she has directed a class for beginners in watercolour at her church, as well as doing workshops in Sandycove.
