Learn two methods to create your own sketchbooks
Class Description
Ever want a sketchbook in a specific size? with a specific paper? In this workshop you will learn two methods of creating your own sketchbook. You will learn how to create a sketchbook that opens flat with four signatures and has a sewn binding using the Coptic stitch method. Next you will learn to bind a sketchbook that opens flat with a glued binding. One book will be covered with decorative paper and the other with your own artwork. The knowledge you will gain learning these two methods will allow you to use any pad of paper to create any size sketchbook in the quality and size that works best for your art practice.

Workshop Outline: Complete boxes accordingly (as noted under each box)

Session 1
Morning activity: We will be working between the two types of binding as one requires some drying time. Starting with one pad of paper we will prepare the pages and front and back covers. Glue the spine and allow drying time. Next we will prepare the second book, signatures and covers.
Session 2
Afternoon activity: We will complete the glued sketchbook leaving time again for the glue to dry. Next we will learn the Coptic stitch and complete the stitched binding. By the end of the day you will have two sketchbooks, both that will open flat, and are easy to work in. You now are adding the knowledge of how to create your own sketchbooks, any size with any paper to your artistic toolbox.
