Class Description
This course will be designed to give students a basic foundation of watercolour, covering both practice and techniques.

A series of projects will include painting still life from observation and working from visual memory and abstraction.

With particular attention to colour, washes and transparencies, as well as a bit of exploration of techniques and work of contemporary and traditional artists.
About the Artist
Fabiola Corona
Graphic designer, artist and museum studies expert. This artist has developed ample interests in sensorial interpretations of messages when using different mediums. Graduated in Museum Studies from the University of Montreal and Graphic Design in the National School of Design of Mexico, Fabiola has a strong sense of visual communication solutions, letting room to natural and organic approaches in her work.

Supplies Students Should Bring:

Paint / art media
Students are encouraged to bring the materials they already have.

For the first class they will need:

- Set of 12+ tubes of watercolour paint. (VanGogh or Windsor & Newton scholar) or better quality (Holbein, W&N pro)

We will talk about materials in the first class.
Art Surface / Support
- Watercolour paper Pad - Fluid 100
- 100% Cotton, Cold Press Finish is a good start
- Pad of paper for sketches and tests
- Watercolour paper (8x11 or bigger)
Supplies and Tools
- Selection of brushes: round, pointed, flat wash
- Sketching pencil and eraser
- Masking tape
- Paper towels
- Sponge
- Two plastic containers for water and mixing
Reference materials
- Supplied by instructor
Misc
- Students are encouraged to bring any other materials which interest them.

Session 1
Activity at First class

- Course overview, exploration of materials.
- Discussion of various watercolour artists and styles.
- Wet-in-wet exercise.
Session 2
Activity at Second class

- Colour basics and paint mixing.
- Still-life with monochrome.
- Washes.
Session 3
Activity at Third class

- Complementary colours and modeling with tones.
- Drawing and expression.
- Working with white.
- Landscape project.
Session 4
Activity at Fourth class

- Landscape abstraction, expressive techniques with complementary mediums.
