Class Description

During this floral workshop you will create a daffodil and oriental poppy from sketch to finished painting. Instructor will provide step by step guidance with a focus on understanding the structural elements of the flowers. Other topics will include colour mixing and specific brush strokes for this subject matter. Learn to create stunning florals with confidence.

About the Artist

Hi-Sook Barker is a full-time teacher known for floral and landscape using an impressionistic style. She is an elected member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour (cspwc) and a signature member of the Toronto Watercolour Society (tws). She currently teaches online and at several locations throughout the Durham Region. Her works can be found in collections across the world.

Paint / art media

- Watercolour Paints (minimum three primary colours)
- *Winsor and Newton brand recommended*

Art Surface / Support

- Arches brand 140lb cold press
- Hard Board to mount paper
- Masking tape or Painters tape

- Brush - min size #14 AND 1" Flat brush
- Paper Towels
- Water Container

Workshop Outline: Complete: All-4 Class Series, 1 only-Single Session, 1 & 2 - Saturday OR Full Day

Session 1

Each session will include:

- Instructor will complete a full demo in three steps using four basic washes.
- After each step the demo will pause and allow participants to follow along the process.
- In general an open environment is maintained throughout as questions may be asked at any time, including the demonstration periods.

Session 2

- Repeat of session with different floral subject.

**If time allows critiques will be provided for any participant who requests one**
