Class Description
Sherryl Hopper will show you how to quickly and economically frame your watercolours and other mediums onto a birch panel (without glass).

MEMBERS: This method will allow you to display your watercolours and other artwork mediums (graphite/charcoal, coloured pencil and pastels) in the Barrie Art Club tent at the Kempenfest festival, as well as any other shows or displays you wish to participate in (framed without glass).
About the Artist
Sherryl Hopper has been a watercolour artist for many years and has taken numerous workshops with several talented and well respected artists both in Canada and the U.S. whom she has admired throughout her career and continues to do so.

Supplies Students Should Bring:

Paint / art media
- Matte medium for adhering the painting to the board
- A finish for the sides of the board, such as acrylic paint or stain
- Krylon Workable Matte Fixative normally used for pastels
- Krylon or Windsor Newton Gloss spray
(Paintings MUST BE SPRAYED OUTDOORS)
Art Surface / Support
- Birch panels with 1 1/2" sides (panel should be slightly smaller than your painting)
- Enough panels to frame your watercolours & other mediums (as time permits you should be able to frame a few)
- **Bring your ‘works of art’ that you want to frame on birch panels**
Supplies and Tools
- Brushes for the matte medium and painting the sides
(Note: Inexpensive brush to apply medium onto panel)
- Something to flatten/press down the paper to the board (Brayer, small rolling pin, spatula)
- Light duty sand paper
- Exacto knife
- Water container and palette (if painting sides w/acrylic paint or stain)
- Paper Towels
Reference materials
- Your watercolour paintings and other mediums that you wish to frame
 

Workshop Outline: Complete: All-4 Class Series, 1 only-Single Session, 1 & 2 - Saturday OR Full Day

Session 1
Sherryl will Demo the following:
- Lightly sand the birch panel and paint sides
- Apply the matte medium to the board
- Transfer the painting to the board
- Spray (outside or at home)

- You will learn many tips for framing watercolours and other mediums without glass.
