Basic Supplies, Brush Tips
Class Description
Sharon Black will demonstrate the basics of Acrylic painting; a great opportunity for beginners and also for those who want to improve their current skills. Basic Supplies and Brush Tips: ie. Loading the Brush, Every Brush Has a Purpose and Brush Care, Dealing with Acrylic Paint Viscosities, Applying the Paint, Acrylic Painting Effects, ie. smooth transitions between colour applications, and “The Finished Painting”.

Sharon will show you how to set up your work space before you paint, what you need to know about brushes, brush care and how to properly load your brush. You will work on Brush Strokes, techniques that are beneficial when blocking in areas and applying highlights and shading.

During the second session, each student will produce an acrylic painting from a reference photo of their choice, or one supplied by Sharon, i.e. scenery or still life.

Once the painting is finished we will explore “Finishing of the Canvas”.
About the Artist
Art has always been a part of Sharon Black's life and for many years she traveled and taught throughout Canada and the United States, and as far as Japan. Still life is one of the first art forms that she became involved in before moving on to discover the worlds of plein air and portraiture. Sharon has always felt that once you've learned to accurately draw what you see, you can then apply colour to create light, shadow and depth. This is the path that Sharon walks and she would love to share it with others who are adventurous.
